MICROGRANTS

GENERAL MICROGRANTS
Thanks to generous donations, Groundswell NW awards microgrants up to $1,000 to support community members who are starting projects that support Groundswell NW’s mission – creating community parks, open space and habitat.

PLANTING STRIP MICROGRANTS
As of April 2026, Groundswell NW is also awarding a limited number of $300 microgrants to support community members who want to garden in their planting strip (the unpaved space between street and sidewalk). These funds can be used to purchase soil, seeds, plant starts, and materials to build planter boxes in the planting strip. See program details in the Planting Strip Microgrant Application.

WHO SHOULD APPLY
General microgrants are open to informal, neighborhood and grassroots community groups. Planting strip microgrants are open to individuals.

WHEN TO APPLY
Applications are accepted year-round. Applicants are notified of award decision within four weeks of application submission. Quicker approvals may be possible.

WHICH APPLICATIONS RECEIVE AWARDS?
Grants are awarded at the discretion of the Groundswell NW Board.
